The B & M Railroad

The modeled section of the layout is located in one corner of the basement.  The rest of the layout consists of a double track mainline which travels the perimeter of the basement on a continuous shelf.

As can be seen in this track plan the mainline passes through the wall into and out of the furnace room.

An MTH Z-1000 controls the outside track while the inside track is controlled by an MTH Z-750.  The red switches control the turnouts using Tortoise under table switch machines.  The yellow switches turn on and off various sections of the track allowing for the operation of multiple trains on the same track.

Engine 56 pulls an evening train into the tv room.

Traffic waits for engines 56 and 9138.  The crossing signals flash automatically when a train passes.

Engines 56 and 2025 wait in the engine house for some routine maintenance.

Engine 56 pulls a passenger train out of the furnace room and across Main Street.

A box car waits to be loaded at the local freight depot.  Notice the wood shed on the left ready for the winter.

Engine 56 passes the forest on its way to the mainline.
